الهوايات 

ه الهواياتُ جَمْعُ «هواية» ، وهي نشاطاتٌ جَسَدِيَّةٌ أَو فِكْرِيَّةٌ أَو فَنِيَّةٌ ، يَهْواها الإنسانُ ، ويُمارِسُها في أوقاتِ فَراغِهِ ، بِقَصْدِ التَّسْلِيَةِ والترويح عَن النَّفْسِ . ولَكُنْ إِذا تَطَوَّرَتِ الْهَوَايَةُ لِتُصْبِحَ مِهْنَةً لِكَسْبِ الرِّزْقِ ، فَإِنَّهَا تَتَوَقَّفُ حِينَئِذٍ من أن تكون هواية . وكثيرًا ما تُصْبِحُ هِوَايَاتُ الْيَوْمِ مِهَنَ الْمُسْتَقْبَلِ 
وَقَدْ تَبْدَأُ الْهِوَايَةُ فِي مَرْحَلَةٍ مُبَشِّرَةٍ مِن العُمْرِ كَنَشَاطِ يَهْوَاهُ الوَلَدُ أَو البِنْتُ ، ثُمَّ تَتَطَوَّرُ إِلَى احْتِرَافِ وَمِهْنَةِ . وَإِذَا دَرَسْنَا السِّيرَةَ الذَّاتِيَّةَ لِكَثِيرِ مِن الكِتَابِ والموسيقيين والفَنَّانِينَ وَالْمُخْتَرعِينَ الْمَشْهُورِينَ ، لَوَجَدْنَا أَنَّ مُيُولَهُم نَحْوَ فَنْ أَو عِلْمٍ أَوْ تَخَصُّصِ قَدْ بَدَأَ أَوَّلاً كهواية . 
. وَمِنَ الوَاضِحِ أَنَّ الْهِوَايَاتِ لَا تَقْتَصِرُ عَلَى نَشَاطَاتِ جسدية ، وإِنما تَتَعَدَّاها إِلَى نشاطات فكريَّةٍ أَو فَنِيَّةٍ فَلُعْبَةُ كُرة القدم كهواية هي مثالَ لِلنَّشاطِ الْجَسَدِي 
والرَّسْمُ والتَّصْويرُ ، مَثَلاً ، هما مثالان لِلنَّشاط الفني وكتابة القصص والاهتمام بحياة الطيور وبكواكب السماء ، أَي الفَلك ، هي أمثلة للنشاط الفكري

Hobbies

The word "hobbies" (هوايات) is the plural of "hobby" (هواية), which refers to physical, intellectual, or artistic activities that a person is passionate about and engages in during their free time for entertainment and relaxation. However, if a hobby develops into a profession for earning a living, it then ceases to be a hobby. Often, today's hobbies become tomorrow's professions.

A hobby may begin at an early stage of life as an activity a boy or girl enjoys, then evolve into a professional career. If we study the biographies of many famous writers, musicians, artists, and inventors, we find that their inclinations toward a particular art, science, or specialization first began as a hobby.

It is clear that hobbies are not limited to physical activities but extend to intellectual or artistic pursuits. For example, playing football as a hobby is an example of a physical activity, while drawing and painting are examples of artistic activities. Writing stories, studying birdlife, or exploring astronomy are examples of intellectual activities.
